FAQ Automobile Injuries
I have been in a car accident. What should I do now?
An accident victim should have a thorough spinal exam as soon as possible. Any injury or damage to your body needs to examined as soon as possible. Time is a key factor in healing. Often the difference between a long slow recovery and quicker one is thorough early evaluation and early treatment of injuries. GET A FREE EXAM at Heuser Chiropractic.

How was I injured or damaged?
Whiplash occurs when your body or body parts accelerate or decelerate rapidly. So as an example your head stops suddenly because of an impact. The head travels forward until your seat belt or the dash stops it, then it snaps backward rapidly. This “whiplash” damages or injures the muscles, ligaments and tendons of the spine. It is similar to a sprain or strain of the spine. The result of this “whiplash” is mis-alignment of the spine and pressure on the nervous system. Because tissue damage occurs after pressure on the nerve, in some cases, symptoms can be delayed. GET A FREE EXAM at Heuser Chiropractic.
What if my car is damaged but I “feel OK”?
Some symptoms may begin immediately, while other symptoms begin within a few hours. However damaged tissue often breaks down slowly. Symptoms may not develop for several days or even longer. Occasionally symptoms don’t begin for weeks or months after the accident. The damage to the tissue happens after the nerve is choked. Don’t delay an exam. Identify spinal problems as soon as possible. Prevent tissue damage by early intervention. GET A FREE EXAM at Heuser Chiropractic.
I don’t think I am hurt but I just want to be “checked”.
It is a great idea to get an exam as soon as possible. Some people, like some cars, survive an impact with little or no damage. You won’t know if your cars frame is bent until you have it checked out. You don’t know if your bodies frame is bent unless you get an exam. I have heard many times “I wish I would have known about this 2 years ago after the accident.” You don’t want to be in a situation where you have a problem but it is too late to file a claim. I had an accident, I think I am hurt, but I can’t afford to get chiropractic care…
First of all… GET A FREE EXAM at Heuser Chiropractic. There is no cost to see if you even have a problem. If you do have a problem that needs care, get care. In most cases insured people have coverage that covers all the cost of all of the people in the car. We would be glad to confirm your auto medical coverage before there is a cost to you. Cost is a concern for everyone. Not recovering from an injury is the most expensive option. You lose your health and require more expensive treatment when injuries go uncared for.
